I love my creature!

This is my little creature and I love him so much! (look at his little paws)

After a particually rough Monday in the office, there is nothing better than to come home to a cuddle from my little old man cat, even if he does try to resist affection as much as he can.

I was actually  listening to this song at work today on my ipod and i was completely distracted from the numbers in front of me, all i could this about was my little grumpy creature at home.

Have skirts had their day?

After seasons of this...

And this...

And totally killing it in this...

Not to mention this...

We now have this!!!

Last week Marc Jacob was spotted at the Louis Vuitton new Bond Street Maison opening event with Kirsten Dunst and Gwyneth Paltrow wearing TROUSERS!!!

Does this mean the skirt moment is over for Marc specifically or is it over for the rest of us too? This is the man, who in my opinion is the new YSL. And YSL sure did know how to dress a lady, in trousers none the less! Should we be taking notice? Or were the trousers donned because this was a very important LV event...

I await Marc’s new collections with anticipation to see the skirt verdict. In the mean time, I think it would be advisable for me to head the more yoga classes to tone up if trousers are the order of the day in times ahead.

"Mondayitis" is a feeling of weariness, sadness, apathy and general distress... CURE AVAILABLE

THIS is my only known cure for Mondayitis.

Of all the bands that I saw at all of the festivals last summer these boys from Brooklyn would have to have been my hands down festival highlight! I remember exactly where I was standing and exactly who I was with. The smell of the night air, the sticky humidity and the skin on skin contact with a rather handsome young man...  The moment is etched in my brain forever!

Behold the wonderfulness!

THIS would make almost my life complete! Seeing these lovely gentlemen in Sydney in July WOULD make my life complete!

It really is that magical!

Hush now baby, baby, dont say a word.

(Still from Cabiria 1914)

Is there anything more luxe than old, silent Italian films?

The above still is from Cabiria. The story is set over 2000 years ago telling the tragic tale of Princess Cabiria who was sold into slavery after a violent volcanic eruption.

Everything here is so opulent, but in such a classic, not at all OTT, sort of way. Oh for the allure of these days of so long ago! My heart literally aches that this sort of glamour is so rarely seen these days!

What an amazing lenes though which to see the world.

(A Single Man (2009) Directed by Tom Ford, featuring Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Nicholas Hoult - you may have seen him in About a Boy and most recently in Skins, oh how he has grown up!)

Based on the novel of the same name, written by Christopher Isherwood, which I guiltily admit to not having read yet, this is a masterpiece. I simply can not find the words to describe my absolute adoration for this movie. Absolutely everything is so well executed. Tom Ford is a genius!

Stunning!

This and an amount of red wine along with some rather wonder company was meant to be my Satruday night.

What actually happened was said wonderful company and I broke into her sister and bother-in-law's home while they are away for the weekend and we used their sauna! When I say broke in, it really isn’t as sinister are as it all sounds. They have said that my friend can use their sauna any time, but they are yet to hand over a house key to make it easy to get into the sauna, or even turn on any lights! This usually means to get to the sauna there is a certain amount of stumbling around in the dark, banging into things and a hell of a lot of giggling!

Entirely worth it though! I think it’s be best girl time, all the chatter and bonding in a hot, hot, hot little room! I’m not sure if it’s the steam or the smell of the wood, but it seems that every time we perform one of these stealth missions, we end up revealing the biggest secrets and end up in fits of laughter.

I love the feeling of emerging from the sauna dripping wet, refreshed and a new sense of closeness with my saunaing buddies!

Saturday love for you!

I'm so excited for today. Not for any particular reason, simply that its Saturday.

This morning I woke to two traides in my apartment installing shelves. This may not sound exciting to you, but what those shelves mean is that now I have somewhere I can display all pieces of art created by local artists that I picked up in markets and from street stalls all over the world. I think they make the best souvenirs of my time away!

Then later this afternoon I’m meeting one of my wonderful friends at the art gallery for a spot of inspiration.

Complete bliss!

By Friday I'm in love!

I’m quite confident that my true love lies in the heart of New York City!

(Image from Sleepless in Seattle)

So close I can almost smell it!

Beyond glad the weekend is in sight! This week seems to have really dragged on and on!

But tonight, I’m ready to shake off the week with more than one turn around the dance floor and I choose Lissy Trullie to be my musical best friend to help get things started.

Not only does this girl look stunning and have an awesome band but she also blog about all her adventure, turning my green with envy! You can turn green by clicking here!

Retail Bliss

Last night I met up with one of my favourite people and fellow blogger Baby Wasp (click here for her blog)for some delicious dinner and a catch up on life and a bit of a shop too!

This girl, Baby Wasp (click here for her website), is one to watch! She got a finger in almost every pie (including pizza pie!), and can soon as published author to her long list of accomplishments!

Speaking of shopping, we were talking about books as opposed to products like Kindle and Borders latest product Kobo. I have to say I don’t like these advancements in technology, I prefer the tangible, weighty feeling of a book. I love the smell and physically turning the pages. I am such a book nerd! They are in almost every room of my home. And I happened to add a few more to the collection last night!

I am so excited to read The Carrie Diaries and I’m almost embarrassed that it took me this long to own The Virgin Suicides!

Oh and I also stopped in to pick up She and Him’s latest offering! I feel the same way about CDs as I do about books! I'm not just paying for the music, I'm paying for the cover art, the CD booklet, and the personal words from the artists.

Sunshine on a rainy day!

Happy Friday! This song can't help but put you in a wonderful mood! And the sunshine reminds me of San Fran and warmer days!

Spending my money before I have it

Come July both of these lovely items will be in my life and I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am!

First on the list is this amazing MARC BY MARC JACOBS 'Henry' Stainless Steel Watch! How hot it is?!? (that was a rhetorical question, clearly the watch’s hotness speaks for itself!)

Second on the list is a darling new record player! I had the best Saturday night last weekend! I ran into my friend in town and we got a drink, then went to another place to attempt their amazing happy hours specials, but the crowd was overwhelming so we ended up in her delightful apartment drinking wine, listening to The Shins on vinyl and watching old movies! It was the most amazing, casual night and ever since I have been obsessed with acquiring a record player of my very own!

So behold my new Crosley AV Room Portable USB Turntable record player!

From Paris, with love

A women who doesn't wear perfume has no future. - Coco Chanel

Jil Sander's new perfume is to die for! And so it the advert!

Its plastered everywhere on my well beaten path to work every day and it make me instantly wish I was as effortlessly cool as Julia Restoin-Roitfeld!

With notes of pink pepper, lavender, mandarin, lily of the valley, iris, heliotrope, musk, vanilla and amber, you can’t help but feel divine!

I won’t be getting over this one for quite some time!

You'll have to buy him a sweater

From what I hear, an apple a day keeps the doctor away. It’s getting chilly outside, and as we approach flu season, I'm most tempted to use these oh so cute Apple Jackets found on Etsy to keep my fruit warm!

You can get your very own Apple Jumper right here.

Just like the movies please!

With the looming release of the much anticipate Sex and the City 2 movie, I have been pondering recently on the subject of my relationship with the ladies in my life.
The real question playing on my mind is “Are movie friendships like movie romances? Do they actually happen in real life?”

(Scenes from Sleepless in Seattle and Sex and the City)

I’m waiting with breath that is baited for the next instalment of the fabulous four. I love the idea that your ladies are your soul mates and that the men in your life are a bonus. This is an idea that I would love to emulate in my everyday life. After all, isn’t it your ladies that you turn to when things are rocky with your man? And isn’t it the same ladies that you gloat to when things are wonderful with you man? This ideal seems to only exist in movie world.

Feeling inspired by the SATC set, I have been trying to organise a ladies night out to see and movie, drink cocktails and generally be fabulous with the ladies who are important in my life. Actually getting this event off the ground has been a mammoth task in itself!

You see, in movie world an event like this would inspire the full cooperation of all involved. In the cold harsh light of day AKA the real world I almost want to cry for even trying to organise something nice for all the girls! For every eager attendee who has been as excited about this as I have been there have been two or three “Maybe” or flat out “No” (without so much as an explanation) unattendees.

Its funny though, last night I was at one of the attendee’s home desperately trying to catch her up on the series so that the second movie makes sense to her (I don’t care what they say, this movie require much more background knowledge than the first movie). Said lovely attendee is up to Season 5, we were watching episode 2 when Carrie posed a poignant question.

She “couldn’t help but wonder” about how her friends were going to work though all the ups and downs, though heart breaks and make ups, and marriages and kids in the future. Carrie was wondering this when she and her friends are mid to late 30’s. I can’t help but wonder about that now! What has happened in our early to mid 20’s lives that we have no time for a ladies night out?

Maybe my expectations for friendship are too high. I learnt pretty early on that the love you see in the movies does not exist in real like. If it existed in real life there would be no need to go to the movies. So, maybe its time to learn that movie friendships don’t happen in real life either, and if they did exist, then that would void the need for shows and movies such as SATC.

The thing about That Thing

I had, what I hoped would be, my first ever One Night Stand on Friday night. This is a massive deal to me! I’m not that sort of girl. EVER. And then to talk about it is also a bit of a big deal too actually…

When I say “what I hoped would be” it actually means that I’m almost certain that it will end up being more than that… there has been constant contact via text message since. I thought that this would drop off after the weekend was over, but that hasn’t happened yet.

This constant contact, isn’t this breaking the rules of the One Night Stand?

I’m still a little new to the whole concept, so I have been seeking advice from the most Samantha of all my friends. She hasn’t been any help. I was expecting to be read the rule book on One Night Stands and how to play things from here. Other than the “Paly it Safe” speech, all I got was a lecture about how I need to find a nice guy to treat me well. I love the concern, but please will someone tell me what the rules are?

Did I choose the wrong guy to start with? Is this where I started to go wrong?

The male in question is someone I’ve know for maybe around 5 years. 5 years ago we met up a few times and got to know each other. We parted ways. I never saw him again until a Lost Girls Weekend some months ago. He had mayonnaise on his face; I pointed that out, and felt superior.

Then last Friday, another chance run in, he didn’t have mayonnaise on his face. He looked good, but I still was harbouring the grudge from when we parted ways 5 years ago. I let him hear about it! He took it like a man… this impressed me and after we established that we live within walking distance of each other, we decided to share a taxi home… well to his home. And purely to sleep… or so was the intention.

In the morning, I worried that I was no longer the superior one; after all, he’s never caught me with mayonnaise on my face. It felt more like we were equal. This feeling did not sit well with me at all! I like being the better one, after all I know how to eat food and have it all make it into my mouth!

So, to remedy this, I promptly got dressed while he was giving my reason after reason to stay and a sauntered out, leaving him stunned, sitting on his bed calling out for my number. The balance of power had been restored in my favour and I decided that it wouldn’t be so bad for him to have my numbers so I emailed it to him. (We had exchanged email/ facebook details earlier in the night)

Is this where the One Night Stand rules were broke? We established open lines of communication?

Or is it that I found myself thinking about him today at work, while I let my mind wander a little too far. Thinking about his arms (strangely enough)… and how I guess, even though the first time wasn’t what I expected, maybe I still want to go back there again… Oh dear! I know that is defiantly breaking a rule!
