I've been unwell today, and have spent a large part of the day in bed, asleep, trying to get better so I can see the sights and partake in the delights that will be next weekend. I realise it's only Tuesday, but I'm trying to turn over a new leaf and be responsible and make sure that I am fighting fit before abusing my body with overindulgence on the weekend, particularly if a spot of Friday Fever can be organised!
With all this being said, in my moments of wake today, I used me Lula magazine to keep me entertained and keep me company. My copy of Lula is getting a slightly worn look to it, as it has been my go to for a little pick me up ever so often, since I have my wisdom teeth all taken out. It got me wondering when the next Lula will come into my life, which prompted me to head over to the website, which then prompted me to head over to my forgotten friend, the Lula Scrapbook, where I happened to come across this delightful animation!
Enjoy!

The recession is over, honestly!
I have this on good authority! Naturally I take my cues from all things fashion when I make a statement as bold as this, but really, hear me out!
Hermes has, a little while ago now, stopped offering their loyal customers brown paper bags in lieu of their trademark orange shop bags to cart their wears home. The offering of the brown paper bags during the recession was brought about due to the wives of CEO etc. not wanting to show that they were relatively unaffected by the recession as their husbands and their respective crack teams fired workers further down the work ladder to save their necks and jobs and the lifestyle they had all become accustomed to. By not walking round with those enormous, attention grabbing orange bags, it gave the impression that they were feeling the pinch too. Kudos to Hermes to considering the feelings of the ones who can no longer afford their wears anymore! But now the orange bags are back with vengeance! So that was sign one for me that the recession is over.
Secondly, Hermes has now confirmed murmurs that they plan to launch a new bag set the rival their Birkin bag. Equally, if not even more exclusive than the original “It” bag, I can’t help but wonder if it is possible to create the stir that the Birkin bag does. I’m unsure how they are planning in marketing this one; Birkins are classic, and look stunning on the arms on 30+ ladies. Perhaps this new bag will be aimed at the younger marker, and if so how on earth are we meant to be able to afford it? Anyway, there is a new bag; with a new price tag and no doubt schemers (Scheme-tastic here) who think they can jump the cue to get the bag first and my second sign that the recession is over.
Thirdly, on one of my wanders around the CBD the other day, I was smacked in the face by the Hermes orange completely covering a shop front, it was HUGE! Hermes is coming to my little sleepy city. Surely the recession is over if they can afford to expand to here! When I saw the shop front all I could think about was my dream of owning a Birkin inching steps closer! (Now, I may or may not be contemplating becoming one of these schemers who jump the cue to get a Birkin bag in my own sleepy city, but I see it as far less of a crime to do it here than to do it somewhere like NYC!) Maybe I could get a job at Hermes thus securing the second income needed for me to solely devote to the purchasing of me bag. Maybe if I worked at Hermes, I could get my mitts on one of these new bags that are set to rival the Birkin… or maybe it will take me 5 years of solid saving of my second income working at Hermes to be able to afford a Birkin… who knows? Anyway, Hermes opening here is the final sign I needed that the recession is well and truly over.

Everything about this is perfection! The Birkin, the bulldog, the whitewash, the complete casualness of the lady! This is from where I'd rather be!

Put a ring on it!
I need this ring in my life!!!
Sunburst cocktail ring by Nicole Richie’s jewellery label, House of Harlow 1960
I will not sleep until this ring is mine! (OK that's not entirely truthful, but I do want it quite desperately.)

Wound down and warm
It's a bit chilly tongiht and I'm tucked up in bed with some hot tea and my book and my laptop enjoying fresh clean linen and listening to She & Him!
This truely is the perfect wind down from the weekend and the calm before the storm that will no doubt be next week.
Oh Zooey! Oh M!
(She & Him - You Really Got a Hold On Me MTV Canada)
good night.

Decision time
My hunt for the perfect bag is still continuing. However, I hope to have this hunt ended on or before this coming Friday. All the extra hours I have put in at work recently have translated into the extra pennies for buying lovely things, such as this bag of my dreams.
Now, I tried to remain loyal to the local economy, but the locals failed me. Nothing I found satisfied me and my needs in this new bag of perfection. Turning my hunt online, I think there is a winner, the only decision to make now it one of colour…
I can get the bag from three different US retailers, Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and Kitson. The price and colour vary with each store, but they all do ship to Australia.
First up is the dark brown leather one from Urban Outfitters. Its $289 USD but will include free shipping (This ends up being about $321.47 AUD)!
Next up is the tan leather on from Anthropoligie. Its $339.11 AUD and there is an extra $50AUD shipping.
Lastly is the grey one from Kitson. Its $312.70 AUD and there is an extra $79.03 AUD shipping.
I must admit, I’m not 100% in love with the grey bag from Kitson, I don’t think that public transport every day will be very kind to the colour, and I want this bag for longevity. I have previously had a Marc for Marc Jacob back in a similar colour and it crushed me to watch it get beat up and marked and stained though general wear and tear as well as the disrespect of other commuters. I don’t want this for my new bag!
Which one do you think I should get? All advice is greatly appreciated!
*Edit* on further internet inspection, I saw that it comes in teal from Nordstroms, but it was hella expensive and I’m not a fan on teal at the best of times.

Excuses, excuses, excuses
Things have been rather slack on here recently. This is largely due to the fact I've been working 10 - 11 hours days at work to implement new changes coming into place at the end of August, and I've been swamped with study too!
Life has been less fun and far less social than usual and there has been little to no room for outside inspiration to motivate me to share thoughts on here, it’s been a horrible feeling and I'm acutely aware of the toll it’s taken now. As it’s nearly the end of August and the end of the current study period, things will be picking up here now! Next study period, I'm studying photography, so that will be exciting, and I have a thought bubble of special project that my ever so lovely friend in Sydney and I might do (B, I know this right now is the first you're hearing of it, but I promise a full email soon about it!)
With all this blah, blah, blah work and wah, wah, wah study talk over, I thought I'd share a song that was the sound track to last weekend with Face and her sister and her mum (OK, I may have told a tiny lie, I did have a tiny little break last weekend for an all girls beach break weekend). It’s so beachy and cute and totally sums up my boy frame of mind right now, still not over it!
Enjoy Best Coast's Boyfriend.

Daffodils!
Yesterday was Daffodil Day, the one day set aside each year to raise money to find a cure for cancer. I love daffodils so much, they remind me of being in London and buying them the cheer up my dim room. How can you not be cheered up by they sunny little yellow faces?!?
Did you know that one in two people will get some kind of cancer in their life. This thought sickens me to no end. Just because Daffodil day was yesterday, it doesn't mean you can't do your bit to help but an end to this revolting disease! Donate here!

Sweet break
I've had a hell of a morning, what with giving up sugar and the general business of Monday mornings, but i trudged on though and now its Monday afternoon, and time for a tea break (minus the sugar).
I did manage to stumble across this treat that's oh so sweet, no need to sugar.
Enjoy!

BANG
He's at it again! Marc has made another fragrance and this time its for men. Here is the teaser that was released earlier this week.
I wonder if this will take the men's fragrance world by storm, the way that Daisy and Lola have for all the lovely ladies out there. I'm also very interested to smell this. Will it be that heady, delicious smell or will it be the "Fashun" smell that many fashion houses make the mistake of releasing. (OK, that made sense to me, but I doubt it will to anyone else who doesn't know about my Fashun-is-a-bad-thing thing I have with some of the gaggle).
Either way, at the end of the day, this is really just a licencing deal, but I am glad that Marc is making the lucrative move. Because, I love him!
Oh, and if you are left with any questions, Marc has taken the trouble of answering some FAQ regarding BANG. Cleaver boy!
Isn't he fabulous! (Rhetorical question, not actual question. Marc is fabulous)

Blog stalking. You know how it is, right?
In the midst of several assignments being due scarily close to one another and my brain being overloaded, I took a break to blog stalk. I was over at Style Rookie and this is what I found!

Tavi NEVER ceases to amaze me! EVER! Goodness I wish I were as cool as her when I was 13! I'm so intrigued to see what she is going to next. Only heaven knows what this little lady is destined to be when she grows up! It literally blows my mind.

Pearls and bubbles and cake and love
Tonight, I'm celebrating an ever so lovely friend's arrival at 25! (Tummy trouble permitting)
This lady is all kinds of lovely, and we have been friends for years! We first met on a Christian arts summer camp type thing, which is all the more amusing if you know both of us now. We get all sorts of delight in telling people how we met, the look on their faces is fantastic!
This lady had done so much for me and asks for very little in return, she is truly amazing, and I so glad,] that over the past couple of years that we have become closer friends. She's the sort of girl that everyone needs in their life.

(This is how I imagine us in years to come, I'll take the bullet and call the old biddy, as I'm slightly older)
*Edit* OK, when I first saw this image, I only saw the word, not the bed, WE ARE NOT IN BED TOGETHER! Just to clear that up! Haha! She has a boyfriend who is all kinds of lovely!
Solidarity
Now for a wee bit of a guest edit from my very favorite monthly magazine, NYLON (read: I took this from their website, I'm not even going to pretend that any of this post came from my brain.). I can’t help but feel validated by this little showing of Alison! Makes my previous ranting over Alison here, and here, seem less obscure or something...
They say Private Icon, I say Fangirl Crush! Either way, enjoy!
PRIVATE ICON: ALISON MOSSHART
In honor of The Deadweather's secret concert at Don Hill's, we try to copy the rock goddess.
(Tigi hair products, Forever 21 bangle, Madewell Biker Boots, Alexander McQueen (RIP) Scarf, Dead Weather album, Urban Decay Eye Palette.)
Could not have said it better myself! And oh, how I want that McQueen scarf!

Birthday Power!
This reminds me of my friend Zac, it's Zac's birthday today. I was a very bad friend and bailed on his birthday drinks last night because even though my head knew the Thai food I had for lunch didn't taste quite right, I had to keep eating it. I payed for that in the evening.
Not only did I miss getting silly amounts of drunk with my friend Zac (which is one of my favorite things to do, particularly after work, even though I know I have to get up really early the next morning) but I also had to deal with an upset tummy, both from the bad Thai food and the bitter disappointment of knowing that I was missing out on the epic fun that Zac was having.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZAC!!!! (I'd link you in, but I don't have your blog, perhaps you should add it to the comments, hmm?)
<3 me!
