The recession is over, honestly!

I have this on good authority! Naturally I take my cues from all things fashion when I make a statement as bold as this, but really, hear me out!
Hermes has, a little while ago now, stopped offering their loyal customers brown paper bags in lieu of their trademark orange shop bags to cart their wears home. The offering of the brown paper bags during the recession was brought about due to the wives of CEO etc. not wanting to show that they were relatively unaffected by the recession as their husbands and their respective crack teams fired workers further down the work ladder to save their necks and jobs and the lifestyle they had all become accustomed to. By not walking round with those enormous, attention grabbing orange bags, it gave the impression that they were feeling the pinch too. Kudos to Hermes to considering the feelings of the ones who can no longer afford their wears anymore! But now the orange bags are back with vengeance! So that was sign one for me that the recession is over.

Secondly, Hermes has now confirmed murmurs that they plan to launch a new bag set the rival their Birkin bag. Equally, if not even more exclusive than the original “It” bag, I can’t help but wonder if it is possible to create the stir that the Birkin bag does. I’m unsure how they are planning in marketing this one; Birkins are classic, and look stunning on the arms on 30+ ladies. Perhaps this new bag will be aimed at the younger marker, and if so how on earth are we meant to be able to afford it? Anyway, there is a new bag; with a new price tag and no doubt schemers (Scheme-tastic here) who think they can jump the cue to get the bag first and my second sign that the recession is over.

Thirdly, on one of my wanders around the CBD the other day, I was smacked in the face by the Hermes orange completely covering a shop front, it was HUGE! Hermes is coming to my little sleepy city. Surely the recession is over if they can afford to expand to here! When I saw the shop front all I could think about was my dream of owning a Birkin inching steps closer! (Now, I may or may not be contemplating becoming one of these schemers who jump the cue to get a Birkin bag in my own sleepy city, but I see it as far less of a crime to do it here than to do it somewhere like NYC!) Maybe I could get a job at Hermes thus securing the second income needed for me to solely devote to the purchasing of me bag. Maybe if I worked at Hermes, I could get my mitts on one of these new bags that are set to rival the Birkin… or maybe it will take me 5 years of solid saving of my second income working at Hermes to be able to afford a Birkin… who knows? Anyway, Hermes opening here is the final sign I needed that the recession is well and truly over.

Everything about this is perfection! The Birkin, the bulldog, the whitewash, the complete casualness of the lady! This is from where I'd rather be!
