I guess every girl goes through a photography phase. You know, horses... taking pictures of your feet. - Charlotte from Lost in TranslationI

I’ve been having a photography phase for quite some time now, and I keep adding to the collection of cameras to have at the ready. I justify this as different cameras are needed for different occasions. I have my “point and shoot” little digital camera for crazy nights out where is tends to be a case of “Photos or it didn’t happen”. Then I have a digital SLR for when I’m jet setting. I also have a Rob Ryan Fisheye Camera for when I was to get a little creative.

Next on my list might have to be either a Diana or a Holga… I can’t quite decide…

Working with digital cameras make everything so disposable and this can be good for when you are having a “Photos or it didn’t happen” moment, but there’s something so romantic about analogue film. You take a shot and you don’t know what you have developed the whole film. You already have your own memory of the place and time of where the shot was taken, but then you get the prints back and it can be like being in the moment all over again from a completely new perspective. I’m still on my first roll of film on my fisheye camera, and I’m excited to see what I get from it. I suspect it might take a few rolls of film before I actually get any photos that I’m happy to show people.
